Ahh, the dog days of......winter?

What a nasty day. We have been spoiled the past couple days, but we are paying for it now. It started out pretty nice, warmed up to about 50 then the blue norther came in. Cold, cold wind and a few spits of snow. I had a graveside memorial service to go to, and Amanda decided to stock up on a few groceries before the storm so we went to Clovis after lunch. Apparently everybody else in town had the same idea. She said the grocery was packed. Just had to stand in line forever looking at Albertson's sign promising they will never have more than three in a checkout line. HA HA HA HA........ I put out extra hay for cattle while she was having fun with that. So we are pretty even I guess. Supposed to be down below 0 temps Wednesday morning.

We shipped our cattle the end of last week. (put out hay for the pasture lease cattle today) Ours were on a January contract so we waited until the very end of the month, and they still were a little light for their target of 800 lbs. Still made some good $ on them, but sure would have been better if it hadn't been so dry and they would have been a little bigger. I will certainly do it again next year, taking into consideration the markets and available pasture.

I'm sorry I haven't been posting anything. I just cannot get motivated to write anything. We have been busy off and on, but that is no excuse. Seems like after all the rush of the holidays, nothing very interesting is going on.

Thinking about:

Trying to haul cow feed products instead of cattle with the truck???

Going on a short trip for 2-4 days sometime soon??? (Dallas?, San Antone?, Santa Fe? OK?)

Renting a roll off dumpster for all the kid's toys???

  3. Nice to hear from you again. Yes, the stores were crazy here too, or so it seemed. Now we all have to hunker down for at least one more day before we can get back to a heat wave of 40. : )
